(February 28/2017) The Ministry of Education held consultations with relevant regional and city administration education information management experts, officials and other stakeholders on the ongoing work.
Delivering a keynote address at the opening ceremony of the consultation forum, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Education, Dr. Yebelatal Ayalew, stated that the ongoing work to modernize and digitize the education information management system is encouraging.
The Chief Executive Officer also noted that the ongoing work should be completed at the appropriate pace and the information management system in the general education sector should be modernized and put into operation.
The Executive Director of ICT and Digital Education at the Ministry of Education, Dr. Zelalem Assefa, stated that many works are being carried out to update and digitize the existing information system in the education sector, explaining that efforts are being made to address the gaps in the delivery of information responsibly and accountability.
He called on stakeholders to support the efforts to update the existing information system from school, maintain its quality and reliability, and make it accessible and usable in a timely manner.
The Executive Director of Education Information Management System and ICT, Ato Sabseb Lemma, said that the ongoing works will increase accessibility through data collection, organization and analysis by standardizing and digitizing the information system.
Ato Sabseb Lemma also indicated that the consultation forum discussed how information can be used and reported not only online but also offline in problem areas and in other options through technology.
