The Ministry of Education has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education for cooperation in the field of higher education development.
It was pointed out that the signed agreement document enables the two countries to work together in the field of higher education development based on the principle of equality, mutual benefit and effectiveness.
It was stated at the same time that the agreement aims to further strengthen the long-term relationship between the two countries and create a favorable environment for cooperation.
The Minister of Education, Professor Birhanu Nega, who attended the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding, pointed out that Russia has had a long historical relationship with Ethiopia, especially at the present time, many reform activities are being carried out in the field of higher education development in Ethiopia in order to produce competent and internationally competitive citizens by providing quality education. Ambassador Yarashya explained to the delegation led by the group.
The Honorable Minister added that he thanked Russia for the support it has given to Ethiopian students so far and requested that the reform that has started in our country’s higher education sector be more effective and that it needs highly qualified human resources to continue its support.
On his part, the Russian Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education pointed out that the agreement creates a favorable environment for the two countries to work together and exchange experience in the field of higher education development based on international cooperation.
He also pointed out that it is an agreement that allows for educational opportunities, exchange of experience between higher education institutions, sharing of learning and teaching resources, joint scientific research and other capacity building seminars.
At the forum, it was announced that the cooperation between the universities of the BRICS member countries, the framework of the rating system and the support system is being prepared.
The agreement was signed by the Minister of Education, Prof. Birhanu Negana, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia, and it was stated that a technical team will be established and work on both sides to implement this agreement.
