(November 25/2018) The 22nd International Anti-Corruption Day was celebrated under the theme “Generation through Ethics; Institution through Practice”.
The Minister of Education, Professor Brehanu Nega, who attended the event and delivered the opening speech, said that in order to overcome the ethical and moral crisis we are facing as a country, we are working hard to shape the generation with comprehensive competence and personality.
He emphasized that it is important to use technology to provide government services to all citizens equally and to ensure transparency in operations in order to prevent and combat the multifaceted corruption that is currently spreading in our country.
He also stressed that in addition to the measures taken against citizens who commit corrupt acts for political gain, sustainable corrective and educational measures should be taken.
The Minister of State for General Education Development at the Ministry of Education, Ms. Ayelech Eshete, for her part, noted that corruption is the main obstacle to development that is taking our country to the bottom, and explained that the government is working on a variety of projects to improve the cost of living, which is one of the factors that make it vulnerable to corruption, by adjusting inappropriate transaction processes and increasing market supplies.
He also noted that the education sector has an institutional responsibility to produce citizens who hate corruption and to fight corruption, and stressed that all leaders and employees of the institution should start the fight from the beginning and continue it.
