Senior leaders of the Ministry of Education discussed with members of the Jinka University community.
(April 03/2017) At the same time, the Minister of Education, Professor Berhanu Nega, said that universities should fulfill their academic mission and become institutions where real discussions are held on the world situation and knowledge that gives direction to the society is generated.
In particular, the Minister said that universities pay little attention to truth and knowledge. He said that in addition to the subjects they study, students need to have intellectual discussions so that they know international and national situations and prepare for them;
Therefore, he urged that universities should truly become centers of knowledge and research where children learn and leave behind the village mentality and work hard to produce competent and competitive citizens.
State Minister for Higher Education Development, Ato Kora Tushne, for his part, noted that today’s discussion aims to identify how universities are implementing reform activities in light of their mandate.
He added that universities should be measured by results in order to produce competent citizens who are self-reliant and competitive in the higher education sector and who can benefit the country; for this, he noted that the ministry has signed an agreement with university leaders that will lead to accountability.
