(September 08/2018) The Harari Regional State Governor, Ato Ordin Bedri, who opened the conference with a speech, said that the 2017 academic year had achieved tangible results in ensuring the quality and accessibility of education.
He said that the attention given to the sector in the region, especially the fact that 22 percent of the students who sat for the 12th grade exam were able to pass, is a sign of the beginning of a new era in the region.
The Head of State said that education is what will take our country back to its former glory and glory, and he will work to increase the quality, accessibility and participation of education in the region.
The State Minister of General Education Development, Ms. Ayelech Eshete, who attended the conference, noted that tangible changes have been recorded in the work done in identifying the gaps in the education system and developing strategies during the past years of change.
In particular, the Education for Generations School Infrastructure Improvement Movement, which was initiated by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD), is improving the quality of schools and making them more convenient.
He said that this shows that we can grow the education sector if we work together.
The Head of the Harari Regional State Education Bureau, Ato Getu Negwo, said that the attention given to the education sector in the region since the change has been encouraging.
He confirmed that efforts are being made to further improve the results recorded in the 2018 academic year by ensuring a peaceful learning process.
The conference also called on everyone to make efforts to ensure that no child of school age in the region is left out of school.
