The Southern Ethiopia Regional Education Bureau held a 9-month plan implementation review forum.
(April 03/2017) The Minister of Education, Professor Berhanu Nega, who attended the consultation forum, said that a country cannot be a country if its education system is damaged; for this reason, several reform activities are being designed and implemented to fundamentally improve the education system as a country.
In particular, the “Education for Generations” movement, which was launched to create a conducive learning environment for children by improving school infrastructure, has so far raised more than 52 billion birr;
He mentioned that more than 30 thousand pre-primary schools, more than 8 thousand new schools, and more than 22 thousand existing schools have been repaired and renovated.
This showed how much Ethiopian parents are committed to their children’s education.
He also said that the role of teachers is paramount in ensuring the quality of education and that work is underway to establish a teacher bank that will benefit teachers.
The Head of the Southern Ethiopia Regional State, His Excellency Ato Tilahun Kebede, for his part, said that if we work together in education and use our own capabilities, we can indeed achieve results in the education sector.
Above all, if teachers are loyal to their profession and work together, we can bring about change in the education system and repair the educational gaps we have faced, the Head of the State said;
At this forum, as a region, we have agreed to review the activities carried out in the education sector in the past 9 months and to implement the remaining ones in the future. At the forum, teachers, principals, supervisors, zones and districts that have achieved the best performance in the past 9 months were recognized and awarded.
