(May 25/2017) The Ministry of Education announced that exams are being administered to 77,000 students nationwide who have followed the remedial program.
According to the head of the Ministry’s Higher Education Quality and Relevance Improvement Desk, Edosa Terfasa (Dr.), the exams are being administered at 64 exam centers set up in 41 universities.
Although the exam was scheduled to be administered from May 25 to May 29, the exam scheduled for Friday May 29 has been postponed to Saturday May 30/2017 due to the Eid al-Adha holiday, Dr. Edosa said.
The head of the department said that students had taken mock exams at the universities where they had taken remedial courses before the exam, which would help them achieve better results.
Dr. Dessie Ndaw, Ms. Mekdes Tamiru and Ato Seyid Mohammed, coordinators of the exam centers at Addis Ababa University, said that 3,528 students from 25 private higher education institutions at the university are taking the exam in 7 natural and social science fields.
The coordinators, who stated that the necessary preparations for the exam have been completed, explained that this year’s exam will be given entirely online, saving time and money.
Students Afomia Getnet, Abel Mekonnen, and Amanawit Abiy, who we met while taking the remedial exam at the university, stated that they are making the appropriate psychological preparations for the exam and are expecting good results.
