February 21/2017 (AD) The Ministry of Education staff and leaders celebrated the 129th anniversary of the Battle of Adwa with a panel discussion under the theme “Adwa, the Victory of the Black People!”
In his message to the program, Minister of Education Professor Berhanu Nega said that since the Battle of Adwa is a symbol of victory and freedom for all black people, we should use the values and heritage of the victory to achieve the expected success in our fields of work.
Professor Berhanu added that in addition to celebrating the Battle of Adwa and using its heritage, we should also accelerate the development of our country by doing our homework on time.
Ato Umer Imam, Head of the Social Science Curriculum Desk in the General Education Development Sector at the Ministry of Education, presented a discussion point and said that this generation should learn a lot from its ancestors on issues of coexistence and development of peoples and protecting the sovereignty of the country.
Ato Umer added that our ancestors in the Battle of Adwa respected the sovereignty and unity of the country regardless of their ethnicity, language, religion, culture and other differences, and explained that the current generation should learn from this.
