(November 13/2018) Minister of Education, Professor Berhanu Nega, received the Singaporean Ambassador and the Head of Ethiopian Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Singapore at his office.
At the same time, the Honorable Minister briefed the delegation on the reform measures that Ethiopia is taking to improve its education system and provide equitable and quality education to all citizens.
In particular, he expressed his desire to work together in the new development plans that Ethiopia has launched such as petrochemicals, mining development, tourism, nuclear science and other educational fields.
Ambassador H.E Aselverjah, who led the delegation, said that Singapore wants to further strengthen its cooperation with Ethiopia and work together in technology exchange, capacity building, education and free education opportunities.
He also explained that under the Singapore Cooperation Program, more than 160,000 African students have studied in Singapore universities, including 300 Ethiopians.
He mentioned that there is a desire to further strengthen this program and provide free education opportunities in the fields of education that Ethiopia needs.
The Honorable Minister also said that the free education opportunities provided will be provided by sending selected students in educational fields that are not offered in Ethiopia and are useful for the newly launched reform works.
