(March 03/2017) Leaders and professionals of the Ministry of Education celebrated International Women’s Day ‘March 08’.
The celebration was celebrated under the theme “Rapid and sustainable comprehensive change is ensured through women’s participation.”
The State Minister for General Education Development, Ms. Ayelech Eshete, who attended the celebration, said that this International Women’s Day aims to reflect on the value that women have paid for equality, fair access and freedom and to encourage the current generation to do more.
He said that we should all play our part in the effort to ensure the participation and effectiveness of women in all sectors;
He said that leaders and professionals working in the education sector should play their part by increasing the participation and effectiveness of women in education.
He added that appropriate monitoring and support should be provided to ensure the equal participation of women; they conveyed their message that it is necessary to continue to improve what is lacking and to work with more attention.
Ms. Mehrete Kristo Tamiru, Executive Director of the Women and Social Affairs Unit at the Ministry of Education, said that in addition to celebrating the holiday, the education sector is expected to conduct various studies and research and create awareness in order to ensure the benefit of women.
During the program, awareness-raising trainings focusing on digital technology and health were given by experts.
