(January 15/2018) It was stated that schools are working with stakeholders to achieve better results in the 12th grade national examination in the 2018 academic year.
In particular, it was noted that the remedial education that is being implemented nationwide to improve the results of students in the 12th grade examination is promising.
Ato Fetuddin Nuri, the principal of Mekicho Millennium Secondary School in the Central Ethiopian Region, which achieved relatively better results last year, explained that the school has not only provided the necessary resources to achieve better results this year, but also explained that strict monitoring and support are being provided to ensure that students focus only on their studies during their time on campus by organizing study sessions.
Similarly, Aleta Wendo Hadasie Secondary School under the Sidama National Regional State was one of the schools that recorded the best results in the 2017 Grade 12 national examination, and the school’s principal, Ato Fikre Daka, said that the establishment of a healthy teaching and learning system played a major role in achieving the results.
The principal added that special tutoring is currently being provided at a time that is convenient for students, with the support of the local community and parents, and that the teaching and learning process is being carried out without wasting time, so that better results will be recorded in the upcoming academic year.
Teachers, on their part, stated that they are fulfilling their national responsibility by providing special support to students in selected subjects in addition to the regular teaching and learning sessions, practicing past national examination questions, and preparing students psychologically.
He added that the results achieved by students are the result of the combined efforts of all stakeholders, and everyone should do their part. He also reminded students that nothing can be achieved by cheating, and that they should study hard and study diligently to acquire the knowledge and skills that will enable them to cope with the changing world.
It is worth noting that a special strategy has been formulated and implemented from the Ministry of Education to schools to ensure better results in the Grade 12 national examination.
