(May 22/2017) The construction of a model secondary school to be built by the Ministry of Education in Gambella town, Gambella region has begun.
The construction of the school was jointly launched by the Minister of Education and the Head of the Gambella region.
The Minister of Education, Professor Berhanu Nega, stated at the same time that the construction of schools is not being built without laying down foundations and then being destroyed, but is being worked on with a focus on establishing a system that will allow for the construction of schools by completing preliminary preparations and starting construction in a short time.
He added that the entire cost of the school, which began construction today, will be covered by the Ministry of Education and will be completed and teaching and learning will begin within a year.
The Minister said that all children in our country should have access to the most equitable education, knowledge and skills possible, and explained that the work that has now begun to provide education to all citizens in a fair and quality manner will continue to be strengthened in a way that makes it accessible to disadvantaged areas.
The Head of Gambella Regional State, His Excellency Alemitu Umod, for her part, noted that creating a conducive environment is crucial to ensuring the quality of education and thanked the Ministry of Education for its support.
She said that the regional government will provide the necessary supervision and support to ensure that the construction of the school is completed within the scheduled time frame, and she called on the community to play its part.
The Head of the Regional Education Bureau, Ato Eken Ukelo, for his part, mentioned that the work being done by the Ministry of Education to improve student outcomes and ensure the quality of education is encouraging.
In particular, despite the construction of many schools in the country, we are grateful for the support provided by identifying and paying special attention to the gaps in the region and will do our part by monitoring and supporting the construction until it is completed.
