(December 14/2017) A discussion was held on the continuation of the 2017 school sports competitions.
During the discussion, Ato Taye Girma, Head of the Education Infrastructure and Services Desk at the Ministry of Education, stated that national sports results cannot be expected without strengthening school sports competitions.
The head stated that the school sports competitions, which were suspended for various reasons, are being organized and held in nine zones during the current academic year.
Ato Daniel Darge, Head of the Sports Monitoring and Support Desk at the Ministry of Culture and Sports, stated that the school sports competitions have a significant role in filling the gap created by the slowdown in national sports results.
He pointed out that the ministry has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Education to focus on school sports competitions and said that this will continue to be strengthened. The Public Relations and Communication Officer of the Ministry of Education, Ato Mesfin Bogale, said that we should all work to promote sports at every opportunity we get so that they gain support from the community.
