(July 29/2017) A delegation led by Ms. Kim Dal-young, Deputy Director of the Gyeongsangbuk-do Education Bureau in Korea, met with Dr. Yohannes Wegaso, State Minister for General Education Development, Ministry of Education.
In the discussion, Dr. Yohannes noted that Korea has been providing our country with information and communication technology infrastructure resources and capacity building training on digital technology through the “KLIC” (Korean Digital-Learning Improvement Cooperation) cooperation program for the past two years, and requested that the program be strengthened as it was effective at the “pilot” stage.
The head of the delegation, Ms. Kim Dal-young, indicated that her team is to start the capacity building training for teachers from July 30/2017 and to ensure the effectiveness of the support provided so far.
Ms. Kim added that they are also preparing to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Education to strengthen the program and continue it.
Mr. Kedir Urji, the coordinator of the cooperation program at the Ministry of Education, explained that the capacity building training being provided is a training of trainers, and that the training was conducted at some point, the trainees went to Korea, and at other times, the trainers came to Ethiopia, as is the case now.
Mr. Kedir Urji added that in this round of teacher capacity building training, teachers from Kotebe Education University, First Menlik 2nd Grade Education Science Shared Campus, Itege Menen Special Boarding School, and Gelan Special Boarding School 2nd Grade will be trained.
