The Head of the Research and Community Development Department at the Ministry of Education has announced that an inventory of expired chemicals in laboratories of higher education institutions is underway.
The Acting Head of the Research and Community Development Department, Dr. Serawit Handiso, stated that one of the reform projects planned by the department in 2017 is to improve research resources and facilities and establish a laboratory standardization and accreditation system.
He added that the ministry, in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry, will work on the management of industrial, research and laboratory chemicals in higher education institutions; He said that training has been provided to academic technical assistants of higher education institutions to be able to carry out inventory work on storage and transportation processes and inventory of expired chemicals.
He also explained that this work will not only be carried out in higher education institutions but also in laboratories under nearby secondary schools to collect information on the source, type, level, quantity and characteristics of chemicals.
