(September 09/2018) At the forum, it was noted that in order to maintain the quality of education, it is expected to improve students’ reading skills and create favorable conditions in schools; for this, it was pointed out that everyone should play their part.
In order to provide quality education to all citizens with fairness, a new curriculum is being designed and implemented, and in particular, a new General Education Proclamation has been approved and implemented.
In this regard, it was pointed out that the fate of tomorrow’s generation depends on the work done on the foundation today, so it is necessary to improve children’s reading skills.
It is said that the reading interest of Ethiopian children has been decreasing over time and has reached a worrying level, and it is expected to work hard to address this problem.
In particular, although technology is a gift of this era, it is said that it should be our concern to restore our reading culture by using it in the way we want.
In the forum, the Ethiopian Library and Archives Service and an organization called ‘Ethiopia Tanb’ have supported schools with various books that can develop students’ reading culture. It was also stated that this was organized in collaboration with World Vision Ethiopia to celebrate World Book Day, which was celebrated for the 58th time in the world and the 46th time in our country last week.
