(March 13/2017) Senior officials from the Ministry of Education met with a delegation led by Ambassador Helena Airaksinen, Head of the Department of Africa, Middle East and Latin America at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland, to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in the education sector.
At the same time, the Minister of Education, Professor Berhanu Nega, briefed the delegation on the main activities being carried out in the education sector, which are given priority attention.
He also mentioned that efforts are being made to ensure equitable and quality education for all citizens in all areas.
He stressed that any support should be used on issues that will ensure that children receive quality education without any waste of resources.
The State Minister of General Education, Ms. Ayelech Eshete, for her part, thanked the previous support for expanding the Akato Education Centers.
She said that we still need more support in our reform efforts to ensure the quality of education.
Ambassador Helena Airaksinen, Head of the Department of African, Middle Eastern and Latin American Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland, for her part, mentioned that Finland has carried out many activities in cooperation with Ethiopia in the education sector.
She expressed her desire to strengthen this and establish multifaceted cooperation in the education sector.
The two sides discussed several areas of cooperation in the education sector and agreed that any support should be on priority issues identified by the Ministry.
