(February 20/2018) The Amaro Model Secondary School, which was built in the Kore Zone of the Southern Ethiopian People’s Regional State in collaboration with the People for People Humanitarian Organization, was inaugurated today.
The school was inaugurated by the Minister of Education, Professor Berhanu Nega, and the President of the Southern Ethiopian People’s Regional State, Ato Tilahun Kebede.
At the same time, the Minister of Education, Professor Berhanu, in a message sent by him, said that this model secondary school inaugurated today is a demonstration of our efforts as a country to make education accessible to all citizens in an equitable manner.
He said that since the change, it has stopped laying the foundation as before and mentioned that it has become a tradition to start and finish projects in the education sector in a short time.
He mentioned that the education sector has fallen into a deep moral decline and that various reform activities are being implemented to overcome this, especially to create a generation that can work independently and trust themselves and avoid cheating.
He also explained that since education is changing from the bottom up, attention is being paid to having pre-primary schools in all primary schools.
He mentioned that over 34,000 pre-primary schools have been built in the past years and indicated that 1,452 schools will be built in 726 districts in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the regions.
The regional head of state, Ato Tilahun Kebede, explained that the government is paying special attention to the reform as education is a vital tool for overall development and the advancement of citizens.
He pointed out that the education sector is one of the most successful institutions and said that the results achieved in the education for the generation movement are remarkable.
Since this school was built to the standard, the community was asked to take responsibility for its ownership and maintenance.
Sebastian Brans, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the People for People Humanitarian Organization, said that people are doing a lot of work for people in education, health, food security and water supply.
He also urged students to study hard to be successful since the construction of this school brings great opportunities.
