(February 15/2017) The State Minister of General Education Development, Ms. Ayelech Eshete, who was present at the discussion, noted that this is the first time that this proclamation has been prepared in this way and that it is appropriate for the current level of the education sector. She also stated that in order to implement the proclamation, extensive discussions will be held with the regional and city administration education bureaus and relevant education sector experts to prepare future regulations and guidelines in a participatory manner.
The Honorable State Minister added that while explaining the benefits of the Education Proclamation for the sector, it brings into awareness the inclusion, accessibility, equity and quality of education. She pointed out that this proclamation will be a potential tool for the reform of the education sector and stated that it ensures the right of citizens to learn and ensures responsibility and accountability.
Dr. Tewodros Shwarget, the Executive Director of Curriculum Development at the Ministry of Education, said that the new General Education Proclamation not only encourages the government sector but also the private sector, indicating that the proclamation will bring positive changes in the education system when it is implemented.
Heads of regional and urban administrations’ education bureaus, heads of the Ministry of Education, and invited experts in the field participated in the discussion.
