(February 24/2018) The Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Federal Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, has conducted a sector-specific training discussion for the leaders of the ministry and relevant institutions.
Speaking at the opening of the training discussion, the State Minister for General Education Development, Ms. Ayelech Eshete, noted that the training discussion is related to the daily work of the leadership and said that it is necessary to ensure that decisions are made and matters are implemented free from conflict of interest and corruption.
He noted that the government is focusing on shaping the generation and accordingly, the education sector is providing ethical education as part of the curriculum to build the ethics of the generation from the ground up.
He noted that many works are being done to prevent and address ethical problems and corruption by modernizing and digitizing procedures, and that the interactive training will contribute greatly to the effectiveness of these works.
The Deputy Commissioner of the Commission’s Ethics Building Sector, Honorable Ato Fikadu Seboka, noted that the training discussion will gradually reach lower-level leaders and employees, and he expressed his hope that it will help prevent corruption and develop a culture of good ethics.
He stated that the education sector is expected to cooperate with their institutions to prevent corruption through strong coordination and lead the anti-corruption fight.
The Deputy Commissioner, who stated that the sector’s work on building a generation is similar to their institution, said that it has a great responsibility in building a morally built generation and preventing corruption.
During the training session, topics that reflect the main corruption risks and vulnerabilities in the sector were presented and discussed extensively.
