(February 22/2018) The Minister of Education, Professor Berhanu Nega, said that there should be no discrimination in education provision in all areas while inaugurating the secondary school built in Dassanech Woreda.
He also explained that various reform activities are being designed and implemented in the education sector to ensure this.
In particular, he mentioned that many new schools have been built and existing schools have been renovated under the “Education for Generations” movement to create a conducive learning environment in all areas.
He added that education reform is based on the belief that it starts from the bottom up, and that attention has been paid to changing pre-primary education, which has been limited to cities and investors, to all areas without discrimination.
He explained that over the past years, more than 34,000 new pre-primary schools have been built in urban and rural areas, where children aged five and six are studying.
He said that since education is crucial for everything, it is necessary to work to create strong national leaders who can withstand the challenges of the world by educating our children properly.
He added that education should be free from politics. The minister conveyed his message that everything should stop being political and education should be ours by providing quality education to citizens and ensuring equal opportunities for all Ethiopians.
