(February 20/2018) The leaders and staff of the Ministry of Education celebrated the 130th anniversary of the Battle of Adwa with the national theme, “Adwa 130, From a Dark History to a Bright Horizon”.
In her message on the occasion, the State Minister of General Education Development, Ms. Ayelech Eshete, said that Adwa is a living symbol of freedom not only for Ethiopians but also for all black peoples, and that our fathers and mothers deserve respect for the sacrifices they made and the victory they achieved.
The State Minister emphasized that education plays a key role in our journey of growth and prosperity, and that we must complete our initial tasks.
In order to take our country to a level where it is convenient for its citizens and a symbol of development, the actors in the education sector are expected to play their part with greater patriotism and feeling, Ms. They raised their voices.
Understanding that we need to work on children from the very beginning to ensure the quality of education, they also indicated that priority is being given to children’s education.
The Honorable Minister of State also emphasized that we should strengthen our unity to protect our borders and instill our social values.
The Head of the Minister’s Office, Ato Getachew Tefera, noted that the purpose of the celebration is to create awareness about the benefits of our unity and national interest, and mentioned that Adwa is a historical symbol in the world history where an African country defeated colonialism with military force and became a historical symbol written in bright colors.
The Head of the Social Science Curriculum Desk, Ato Omar Yimam, who presented the opening speech at the celebration, explained that the victory of Adwa is a symbol of national unity and victory.
Since the first basis of national interest is sovereignty, the issue of sovereignty They also stated that citizens should stand together.
