(February 02/2018) During a briefing to the heads of regional and city government education bureaus regarding the activities to be carried out in the remaining six months, the Minister of Education, Professor Berhanu Nega, explained that with the support received from partner organizations, the Ministry of Education will build one school each in 626 districts across the country that do not have any pre-primary schools.
The Minister explained that the regions and city governments that will benefit from this national project are also expected to build another similar school in each school built in each district with the support received from the Ministry of Education, so the number of new schools to be built nationwide in the next 6 months will be more than 1200.
He explained that the design of the schools is being finalized and that the construction will begin soon after identifying contractors in collaboration with the regions.
The minister added that the project is part of the Ministry of Education’s efforts to make education accessible to all citizens in all areas with equity and quality.
Over the years, the government has built more than 34,000 schools, especially for pre-primary education, with special attention given to shaping children from the bottom up with knowledge and ethics to produce competitive citizens.
