(Ministry of Education, November 12, 2018) The Minister of Education, Professor Berhanu Nega, held discussions with a delegation from the Nigerian Technical Assistance Volunteers Organization at his office.
The discussion between the two parties focused on the possibility of resuming the technical assistance that Nigeria had previously provided to our country, which had been suspended.
At the same time, the leader of the delegation, who noted that Nigeria is a country with a long-standing friendship with Ethiopia, mentioned that his country had previously provided technical assistance to Ethiopia through volunteers.
However, this technical assistance of volunteers has been suspended for various reasons and since the Nigerian government is currently interested in continuing this technical assistance of volunteers in the education sector, he explained to the Honorable Minister the possibility of deploying volunteers.
The Minister of Education, for his part, expressed his belief that this technical assistance of volunteers in the education sector will enable our country to benefit more.
He especially emphasized the importance of Nigerian experience in new professional fields such as petrochemicals, mining development, nuclear science and other areas that are needed for the reforms that have begun in our country.
Therefore, he explained to the delegation that it would be useful to bring highly experienced volunteer scholars to our country in these new educational fields and to send experts from Ethiopia to gain experience.
To this end, the leader of the delegation and the technical team of the Ministry of Education agreed in their discussions to make detailed arrangements to work together in the above-mentioned educational fields.
