(October 17/2018) The Ministry of Education held a consultation with the Ethiopian Parents’ Association and the school parents, students, and teachers’ unions selected from the best performing schools in each region to improve student performance.
In her speech at the consultation forum, the State Minister for General Education Development at the Ministry of Education, Her Excellency Ms. Ayelech Eshete, stated that the role of national, regional, and city-wide parents’ unions as well as school parents, students, and teachers’ unions is significant for the improvement of students’ performance and behavior.
She emphasized that parents’ unions at all levels are expected to play a key role in mobilizing the community so that the work of improving the school environment under the Education for Generation Movement can continue.
At the forum, the Parents’ Union presented the main activities they have carried out in terms of improving students’ results and behavior, the challenges they have faced and the solutions they have overcome, and exchanged experiences with each other.
He also pointed out that one of the goals of the forum is to enable parents to clearly identify their roles in terms of improving students’ results and behavior.
Finally, Ms. Ayeleh noted that the insights and agreements reached from the consultation forum will create a favorable environment for further coordination and cooperation to improve students’ academic results and behavior as desired.
