(Ministry of Education, Nehasie 16/2017) The Ministry of Education, during a two-day event held in Hawassa city, concluded the signing of an agreement on the 2018 key performance indicator results with all regional and city administration offices involved in the general education development sector.
The forum reflected a deep discussion on issues where better results can be recorded at the national level and identified future focus areas.
At the forum, the Minister of General Education, Dr. Kebret Ayele, emphasized the importance of participation, quality, and equity in education, highlighting the successes achieved in the 2017 education year and setting directions for achieving better results in the coming year.
It was also noted that efforts to overcome natural and human-made challenges affecting the implementation process are crucial for registering improved outcomes in the 2018 education year, as explained by Minister Kebret.
All regional and city education bureaus were advised to focus on the following: education for the next generation, school enrollment, pre-primary education, the implementation of the education system, capacity building for teachers and education leadership, digitalization, as well as ensuring the protection and inclusion of both male and female students, alongside other reform initiatives.
Finally, various draft regulations prepared at the ministry’s office were presented and discussed, with an emphasis on ensuring that these regulations align with the national context and public interests. It was confirmed that subsequent efforts will be made to compile and implement these regulations.
