(July 16/2017) It has been announced that a special summer capacity building training will be provided to more than 84,000 secondary school teachers and school leaders starting from July 28.
The Minister of Education, Honorable Mrs. Ayelech Eshete, while opening the training of trainers that has begun at Kotebe University of Education, stated that increasing the competence and motivation of teachers and school leaders is crucial for the quality of education.
She emphasized that teaching is a profession that educates citizens by building them with knowledge, skills and ethics and that shapes citizens to be problem solvers, researchers, country builders and builders.
Teaching is the pinnacle of all professions that play the role of parenthood and guardianship without any restrictions, he said, so school leaders have a great role to play in ensuring that teachers fulfill their responsibilities and improve student outcomes.
The Ministry of Education is working to ensure the quality of education through curriculum development, teacher and leader development, making schools more conducive, and many other activities. The State Minister stated that the Ministry will provide training to more than 84,000 teachers and school leaders for the second time starting from July 28, based on the experiences gained from the training provided last year. She also conveyed a message of encouragement to the participants of today’s training of trainers program to fulfill their great national mission effectively.
Kotebe University of Education President Dr. Berhane Meskel Tana said that teachers have a significant role in healing the educational divide and building the next generation.
Dr. Muluken Ngatu, Executive Director of the Department of Teacher and Educational Leadership Development, said that the aim of the training of trainers is to improve the performance of students by increasing the capacity and competence of teachers and educational leaders.
He pointed out that this is the second time that the training of secondary school teachers and educational leaders has been organized and explained that the training given last year has provided valuable experience and knowledge.
A total of 630 scholars from 30 universities participated in the special summer training of teachers and educational leaders that began today and will last for three days.
