The Ministry of Education held an online discussion with the heads of the education bureaus of regional and city governments on the issue of remedial education and student admission in grade 12.
A document prepared regarding remedial education and out-of-school students was presented during the online discussion and extensive discussions were held.
The State Minister for General Education Development at the Ministry of Education, Ms. Ayelech Eshete, stated during the discussion that the role of sector leaders and stakeholders in improving the results of secondary school students is significant.
Honorable Ms. Ayelech added that teachers, school leaders and parents should play their role in preparing students psychologically. She pointed out that it is necessary to work diligently to ensure that out-of-school students come to school in terms of student admission, and that education management at all levels should lead with determination and strict discipline so that the desired changes occur and that tasks are completed according to the set timetable.
Regional Education Bureau officials who participated in the online discussion stated that it is appropriate to develop a 2nd level remedial education plan and work in a consistent manner to maintain the quality of education, and indicated that they are committed to working hard to achieve the intended results. Finally, the leaders of the education bureaus stated that they will work diligently to return out-of-school students to school.
