(Ministry of Education/July 04/2017) At the same time, the Honorable Minister mentioned that Ethiopia has had a long-standing relationship with South Sudan, especially in the education sector, and explained the reform measures that Ethiopia is currently taking to ensure the quality of education.
For his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Monday, noted that South Sudan has had a long-standing historical relationship with Ethiopia and stated that his country wants to continue to strengthen this historical relationship.
He added that 200 of the students who graduated from Ethiopian universities with free education opportunities are now employed in various positions in their country’s government, thanking them for the support they have received.
During their discussion, the two sides discussed issues related to the free education opportunities offered by Ethiopia to South Sudanese, university-to-university cooperation, joint research and development activities, and capacity building training and support for the South Sudanese Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education.
It was also noted during the forum that the Ethiopian government will continue to cover all expenses related to accommodation, food, and immigration of South Sudanese who have received free education opportunities in Ethiopia.
Finally, the Honorable Minister was invited by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Sudan to visit South Sudan.
