On November 19/2017, the leaders and employees of the Ministry of Education celebrated the 19th Nation, Nationalities and Peoples’ Day.

The State Minister for Higher Education Development, Honorable Ato Kora Tushune, who attended the celebration, said that the Nation Nationalities and Peoples’ Day, November 29, is a day to strengthen our country’s unity, diversity and national unity.

The State Minister, who pointed out that our nationalism and diversity are a reality that we know in practice by living together, mentioned that it is a common value that we should continue to strengthen.

The Honorable State Minister also emphasized that when we celebrate the day, it should be by openly discussing and strengthening our nation-building and solidarity.

The Minister’s Chief of Staff, Ato Getachew Tefera, pointed out that democracy is a manifestation of federalism and said that the lack of a democratic culture is the main challenge of the federal system.

The Minister’s Office Chief pointed out that some of our emerging issues should be resolved through dialogue and a calm spirit, and that solutions should be found through open discussions on concrete issues and a strong country should be built through strengthening national unity. At the same celebration, which was celebrated under the theme “National Consensus for National Unity”, a document titled “The Structure of a National Federal System” was presented by Ato Umer Imam and a wide discussion was held.
