(June 06/2017) The construction of a model secondary school to be built in Durame city, Central Ethiopia Region, has begun in the presence of senior officials of the Ministry of Education.
The Minister of Education, Professor Berhanu Nega, who attended the groundbreaking ceremony, said that efforts are being made to produce competent and competitive students by building model secondary schools with complete infrastructure in each area.
As a country, we must focus on education to get out of poverty; for this, we must create a conducive environment where all Ethiopians have equal opportunities to learn.
In particular, the Minister said that while there is no economic disparity in nature, there should be no difference between the rich and the poor in education, and he said that he will work hard to make government schools, where most Ethiopians study, preferred and comfortable.
Government schools should be institutions where all Ethiopians study; He mentioned that a new Ethiopian school design has been designed and implemented, and said that we are building schools that will produce children who will be the leaders of Ethiopia tomorrow.
He also explained that the Ministry of Education is planning to build 51 model secondary schools with adequate infrastructure across the country.
The Deputy Chief Executive of the region, Social Cluster Coordinator and Head of the Education Bureau, Ato Anteneh Fikadu, for his part, mentioned that many works are being done to improve the education system in all sectors.
Especially since most of the schools in the region are below standard, building such model schools makes a lot of sense, and he asked the community to provide the necessary support.
It was stated at the forum that the construction of this model secondary school will cost 509 million birr and the entire cost will be covered by the Ministry of Education.
An agreement has been signed between the Ministry of Education and the Regional Education Bureau to complete the construction of the school within one year and start teaching and learning activities
