(May 28/2017) At the same time, the Ministry of Education is going to implement a new system of work for those who have been trained in various fields of education and want to enter the teaching profession to address the training shortage in the teaching profession, said the Ministry’s Executive Director for Teachers and Educational Leadership Development, Muluken Ngatu (PhD).
Although our country has a long history of training teachers, it is necessary to open a new path for those who want to enter the teaching profession; for this, a training framework has been prepared where they can take additional training and become teachers.
In particular, he explained that various options are being designed and implemented to produce teachers with educational preparation appropriate to the level that is in line with the changes in the education sector.
It is said that graduates who want to work as teachers will be allowed to attend various universities and receive additional training in the teaching profession, the content of the type of education they teach, educational technology and common courses.
For her part, the Head of the Teacher and Educational Leadership Development Desk, Ms. Aseged Mresa, noted that it is important to study and implement alternative training modalities to improve the supply of teachers in our country.
For this purpose, a survey conducted to this end has confirmed that most graduates in various fields of education are interested in entering the profession if they are given additional teaching training.
A consultation forum is also being held with training educational institutions, the Regional Education Bureau and relevant bodies to implement the training framework.
It is also said that the newly developed alternative teacher training framework will be implemented from next year.
