Discussions were held on the agendas of change and reform in higher education institutions.
(May 11/2017) Executive Director of the Ministry of Education, Dr. Yebelatal Ayalew (Dr.) stated that the education sector reform, which is part of the national reform, should be implemented on a pilot basis.
Dr. Yebelatal added that the structural and operational system for the implementation of the reform, which will be implemented on a pilot basis, is being improved.
He also said that following the operational reform, proclamations, rules and regulations have been revised and prepared in a new way.
He indicated that the pilot implementation will be carried out first by the Ministry of Education and relevant institutions, and then from higher education institutions to schools step by step.
Dr. Handiso Saada, Head of Research and Community Engagement at the Higher Education Development Sector, said that reforms being implemented in higher education institutions will enable them to fulfill their missions properly.
Noting that the purpose of universities is to transform society, Dr. Handiso said that institutions are expected to identify and address operational challenges immediately.
Kebede Gizaw, Executive Director of Institutional Change, explained that reform agendas being implemented in higher education institutions should be institutionalized.
Kebede added that the purpose of the discussion forum is to review the implementation strategy for reform efforts in higher education institutions and the operational system for reform agendas.
