(April 23/2017) Minister of Education Professor Berhanu Nega has initiated the construction of Rufo Waeno Model Secondary School in Aleta Chuko town, Southern Sidama Zone, Sidama Region. Since there is only one secondary school in the city administration, this model secondary school being built by the Ministry of Education will play a major role in ensuring the quality of education by solving the problem of student-to-student ratio and balancing the student-to-teacher ratio.
It is said that having comfortable and well-equipped schools not only creates comfortable learning and teaching, but also makes students like coming to schools. In the forum, it was announced that 21 pre-primary schools that meet the standards of the Education for All Movement for the Improvement of School Infrastructure in Southern Sidama Zone have been built and teaching and learning activities have begun.
It was also announced that more than 86 million birr has been raised for the maintenance and renovation of existing schools, and the community has been asked to continue its support for education ownership.
The construction of the school that has begun will be completed within a year and teaching and learning activities will begin, and an agreement has been signed to ensure that the construction is completed in a quality manner and the Regional Education Bureau will be responsible for completing the construction.
It is known that the Ministry of Education is planning to build 50 model secondary schools with adequate infrastructure in selected areas across the country.
