(April 25/2017) At the same time, the Minister of Education, Professor Berhanu Nega, said that universities should be institutions where people come in search of knowledge and truth.

He said that universities should work with a vision on the natural resources of the area and that Bulehora University is expected to do extensive research on minerals and do work that benefits the society and the country.

He added that universities should make it their main task to make the students they teach competent and competitive: In this regard, he indicated that action will be taken by the Education and Training Authority if the exit exam score of three consecutive years is below 25 percent.

He also mentioned that university leaders are being appointed based on their competence and skills, and that work is underway to establish a university leadership training institute to modernize their practices.

On his part, Ato Kora Tushne, State Minister for Higher Education Development at the Ministry of Education, said that universities should focus on working according to the mission areas they have been given.

He added that universities should focus on empowering their students as they are the source of knowledge and ethics. Regarding Bule Hora University, the issues identified by the Ministry of Education’s supervision team were presented by Solomon Abraha (PhD), the Executive Director of Higher Education Administration and Infrastructure.

He said that the university is expected to work with a vision to become a preferred university by producing competent and competitive students. Members of the Bulohora University community also raised their questions regarding academic and administrative matters, and an extensive discussion was held.
