(March 04/2017) The State Minister for General Education Development at the Ministry of Education, Ms. Ayelech Eshete, who attended one of the training centers in Adama City, said that although extensive work has been done in building educational institutions over the years, there are still many gaps in terms of education and quality.

The State Minister, who pointed out that many works are being done as a country to fill these gaps, stated that a very encouraging success has been achieved by mobilizing the community.

He pointed out that the previous curriculum was borrowed from abroad and did not resemble ours, so now work is being done to incorporate local knowledge and is being implemented. He said that since it is not possible to ensure quality by doing this alone, school meals, teacher and school principal training, school improvement and similar activities have contributed greatly to this.

The Head of the Oromia Regional State Education Office, Honorable Dr. Tola Beriso, who attended the opening of the program, thanked the Ministry of Education for the training that began in the summer of 2016 for teachers and school principals and expressed his hope that this will continue to be strengthened.

Honorable Dr. Tola added that since most of the schools in the region are below standard, he urged the trainees to contribute their part without getting tired after the training.

The head added that efforts are being made to provide ICT infrastructure, electricity and water to all schools in the region in the next three years.

Dr. Yohannes Wegaso, Executive Director of Educational Programs and Quality Improvement at the Ministry of Education, gave a detailed explanation to the trainees on the national distribution of schools (school mapping).
