The Ministry of Education has launched a school sports league in collaboration with the education offices of all states and city governments.
The sports league program has been developed and implemented so that students can participate in sports activities without affecting their regular school hours. The participation of students in various sports activities besides their regular education is important for the physical, social and psychological benefits of students.
Therefore, in the 2017 school year, the Hariri region organized in the eastern region in all schools in volleyball, football, basketball, handball, athletics, gymnastics, table football and traditional sports in the presence of the leaders of the region, religious leaders, famous personalities and school leaders.
The sports competition will continue throughout the year and a launch platform has been prepared and implemented in the presence of all stakeholders from Harari region and Dredawa city administration.
In other parts of our country, among the schools in the southern region, the schools in the Gamo zone and the Omo zone in the south of Ethiopia have started playing volleyball and football, and the schools in the Guji zone in the Oromia region have started playing football, volleyball and athletics. Schools under other zonal arrangements will soon start the sports competitions.
