A qualitative research based on the natural conditions and realities of inclusive education was conducted.
(On Nehase 12/2017 E.C.) Dr. Yohannes Wegaso, the Executive Director of Education Programs and Quality Improvement, who delivered a message at the forum, stated that efforts are being made to bring citizens with disabilities and special needs to school and to do so effectively, but it is not at the expected level.
In this regard, all stakeholders were also urged to give up their shares to bring and keep all citizens with disabilities and special needs in school, and to appropriately address the challenges identified in the research.
Maria Matir, the Ethiopian coordinator of the “Teacher Education for Inclusion and Quality (TEFIQ)” project, emphasized that inclusive and quality teacher training programs are collaborative and cooperative efforts that help to address the relevant issues.
At the forum, various initial research papers were presented by different experts and discussed among participants, with particular focus on the challenges faced in inclusive education and the need for detailed examination.
It was also noted that traditional teaching methods, non-inclusive educational preparation and arrangements, as well as the delivery of educational content, are among the internal issues identified that need to be corrected accordingly.
