The National Education Assessment and Examinations Agency (NEA) has announced that the 2013 Grade 12 Leaving Examination Matric will be given by mid-October. A total of 620,000 students are expected to sit for the exam, 99 percent of whom have registered for the exam, said Dr. Dilamo Otori, Director General of the Agency.
The agency said exam preparation has been completed and that social science students will not sit for the economics exam this year. Due to the lack of economics education in some regions, it was decided not to sit for the exam.
Based on the information we received from the National Meteorological Agency, it is difficult to give the test during the winter,” said Dr. Dilamo. More than 2,200 test sites have been set up, he said, making it difficult for test executives to go to summer classes.
He said it would be difficult to transport exam papers during the winter, which was postponed to mid-October due to the holiday season in September. It is expected that the date will be announced in mid-October.
